Pervert pushes nukes off center stage, 'til now

Almost two weeks ago, in my posting of Friday, August 18, 2006, I remarked, "...now we are all watching endless coverage of the fake JonBenet Ramsey killer, John Mark Karr to take our minds off the over-hyped London terror plot." When the TV news today gets sick of whining about the Boulder CO DA, and discussing the big rainstorm in Florida, they'll be moving on to the next obsessive-compulsive TV news story. I predicted North Korean nuke tests would be up next. I hope not.

I can't be the only one who noticed the North Korean nukes' brief appearance in the center ring, only to get the hook to make room for the prissy pervert from Thailand, drinking champagne on the way to Boulder, and making a fool out of the criminal justice system, TV news bunnies, and anyone else that confused his now-publicized sick fantasies for evidence.

What do possible nuke-capable “Axis of Evil” wannabies learn from our conduct?

1. If we pretend a country (Iraq) has a nuclear weapons program, we will invade, destabilize their society, and create a proving ground for al-Qaeda.

2. If we suspect a country (Iran) is on the verge of producing an actual nuclear weapon, we make a lot of noise, offer enormous bribes, make threats, call for boycotts and sanctions, etc.

3. If we know a country (North Korea) really does have nuclear weapons, we mostly ignore them. The country never shows up in the news, unless there is a major incident, such as a long-range missile test. When that happens, we refuse to talk to them ourselves. We try to get a gang together for strength and intimidation. And, of course, we make a lot of noise, offer enormous bribes, make threats, etc. There are already boycotts and sanctions in place which, I suggest, is making the situation worse. Animals, people, and countries become really dangerous when they are cornered with nothing to lose.

Yes, Virginia, There Really Are Tunnels Under the DMZ

We have 30,000 – 40,000 active troops in South Korea. They have overstayed their welcome, and are becoming a rallying point for anti-American feelings in that country. Their main purpose, if you spend some time thinking about it, is to put up a good fight trying to stop a North Korean invasion and then die. I suggest there would not even be a fight. North Korea will simply detonate nuclear mines under the American lines in the DMZ, a tactic that found moderately success during WWI using conventional explosives. This ignoble defeat of our troops will so inflame the American people that we will go along with all-out war with North Korea.

See PBS background article here
Information on acknowledged tunnels

Logic tells us to get out of Korea ASAP. We should rig it so South Korea asks us to leave, then simply leave. There is a better chance of peace with that immediate action. (Can we learn something from our overstay in Saudi Arabia?) Even in the worst case, I doubt a unified Korea would be any more of an actual threat to the USA than North Korea is right now. (A unified Vietnam was not, for example). If it is, we simply will have to use more nukes than we originally thought, trying to turn a seriously mountainous country into a radioactive slagheap.

Reality really sucks, doesn't it....?

I was thinking this morning, with the Katrina nostalgia clips playing on various TV news channels, especially MSNBC, that we have a window into the future showing us the level of care that will be provided by the federal government after someone detonates a nuke, or worse, inside the USA.

There’s MAD, and then there’s positively insane…!

For the period of the Cold War standoff between the USA and its NATO allies, and the Soviet Union and the other Warsaw Pact nations, it is generally understood that the unofficial Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD) Doctrine probably prevented nuclear war for about forty years. If you think about it for a moment, for this to even work at all required incredibly sane people to be in charge on both sides of the Iron Curtain. The ultimate decision makers had to have a clear understanding of cause and effect, and especially had to be able to conceptualize and understand consequences.
Now consider the situation in the Middle East. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad heads one of the world’s fastest growing fledgling nuclear powers. Just last October he said Israel, "…must be wiped off the map." Friday, April 14, 2006, he goes on to say, "…the Zionist regime is a dying tree, and soon its branches will be broken down." Can anyone make the case this is a sane person?
Israel recently added two more nuclear capable diesel electric submarines to its fleet of three, for a total of five. See Boston Globe news story These two new Dolphin class subs, “[Are] fitted with a new German technology in which the propulsion system combines a conventional diesel lead-acid battery system and an air-independent propulsion system used for slow, silent cruising, with a fuel cell equipped with oxygen and hydrogen storage,” according a very recent Jerusalem Post article. This makes them virtually undetectable.
According to a World Net Daily article, "While the European Union or United States could possibly absorb a nuclear attack by Iran's fledgling nuclear arsenal and survive, Israel could not."

It goes on to say, "Neither could the status quo be maintained by the old Mutually Assured Destruction Doctrine that kept the Soviets and Americans at bay for 40 years. The Soviets were pragmatic enough to know that a nuclear attack on the United States would mean national annihilation. They could be trusted not to commit national suicide."

"But Iran marches to an entirely different drum. Iran is motivated and driven by an Islamic-based ideology that glorifies martyrdom for Allah. This is why it is the wellspring of suicide bombers. This is one of the main reasons that Israel developed a last-resort nuclear-defense policy known as the "Samson Option." You will recall that when all was lost, Samson took down all his enemies with him in his death.

"The "Samson Option" is an operational plan that can be implemented on very short notice. If Israel sees that it is about to be overrun or faces annihilation by weapons of mass destruction, the "Samson Option" will immediately kick in. There would be very little left of the Muslim Middle East after that."
Pure logic says to survive in a nuclear scenario, Israel has to strike first. For those that are wondering if the Israelis have the will to survive by using a plan that will require them to kill more innocent people than Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin combined, examine your heart and ask yourself this question. If my family and country were on the verge of annihilation at the hands of foreign fanatics impervious to logic, and I have the means, would I kill them, their families, relatives, friends, neighbors, and countrymen, and render their country uninhabitabital? I think very few would say no in answer to this question.

There is no there there...!

This is follow-up to the Wednesday August 16, 2006 question here about the passenger screening frenzy on USA domestic airline flights.

See this article.

Apparently the timing of the recent media circus' focus on the London Terror plot may be the only reason for the coverage in the first place. Exposure of that plot triggered endless hysteria about passenger screening on USA domestic flights. It certainly removed Israel's humiliating inability to defeat Hezbollah right off the TV, didn't it? And now we are all watching endless coverage of the fake JonBenet Ramsey killer, John Mark Karr to take our minds off the over-hyped London terror plot. Does anyone thinks this psychotic meld of Anthony Perkins (Norman Bates) and Lee Harvey Oswald is the actual killer of poor little JonBenet?

The real excitement is wondering what the next "big" story will be, probably starting tomorrow, to take our minds off the JonBenet killer fiasco, after officials finally admit there is no case there. My guess it will be the North Korean threat to test detonate a nuclear device.

I think Gertrude Stein's line, "There is no there there," pretty much sums up the current state of TV journalism.

So...what really happened to the people on Flight 77?

The official version of events says the magnitude of impact and resulting fires at the Pentagon on 9/11 were enough to cause all traces of Flight 77 to disappear, including two nine foot diameter titanium and stainless steel jet engines, fires so hot that there was not even a pool of melted steel to mark their disappearance, yet enough pieces of people were left over for DNA analysis. Where did those pieces really come from?

[Actually three items were recovered: 1. A flimsy piece of aluminum painted in United Airlines colors, with no burn marks, light enough to be carried with one hand, found resting on the pristine lawn in front of the damaged building; 2. A souvenir on Donald Rumsfeld's Pentagon desk, that he referenced in a TV interview; and 3. Something fairly large, hidden by a blue tarp, yet small enought to be carried casket style, and hustled away by a small detachment of militaty men. Photos of these three items are available on the internet.]

Does anyone see anything really odd...?

Does anyone see anything really odd about the most recent foiled terrorist plot? According to Bread & Circuses, i.e., the TV news media, the following are facts: 1. All the plotters were based in England, and all but a few are in custody; 2. No elements of this plot were discovered in American after extensive investigation; 3. The targeted flights all originated in England, with a destination in America.

Questions: 1. Why are they shaking down passengers on all domestic flights in the USA? 2. If the authorities are so worried about copycats, why are not these measures taking place in every airport in the world that has flights destinated in the USA? 3. Why isn't all baggage screened, or are all terrorist smart enough to get through personal screening, but not quite smart enough to rig an automatic device? 4. How come there is still no in-depth screening performed on the support infrastructure, such as food catering, cleaning services, baggage handlers, maintenance workers, refuelers, etc.?

I think this is a big show designed to cover up the fact nobody has a clue what to do. In the past the authorities said they were foiling plots all the time, but could not discuss them because of revealing too much information to our enemies...what's different now?

A last minute revelation is that running passengers' shoes through the x-ray machine does not detect explosives, a procedure that has been in effect since the so-called shoe bomber was foiled. Gee, thanks AP for letting all the terrorists know they can carry explosives in their shoes.

Why, indeed? Think about it...

To put rumors to rest that the moon landings were faked, why doesn’t someone simply point the Hubble telescope toward the moon, pick up the lunar rover, and show everyone?
