From Mexico, to Grandma’s Underwear

Could it be this simple? Are the Immigration and Naturalization Service’s and the Bush Administration’s refusals to enforce our Federal laws on illegal aliens and close down our borders, actions that at least eighty percent of legal American citizens are in favor of, part of plan to keep Mexico stable, and supply cheap labor at below minimum wages to American businesses? After all, the total amount of money sent back to Mexico by illegal Mexican aliens exceeds the income from its national oil business. Right now, Mexico has to import cheap labor to fill out its own labor force, so at present there are not large numbers of unemployed workers causing trouble south of the border.

On the situation four years ago, Senator John McCain, in a letter dated February 10, 2004, said, “Every year, millions of people enter this country legally, in a monitored and controlled manner. However an increasing number of people risk their lives to cross our borders illegally. According to the U.S. Border Patrol apprehension statistics, it is estimated that almost four million people crossed our borders illegally in 2002.”

Read letter.

Hound Dog thinks the most recent figure is six million illegal border crossers, any of whom could be drug smugglers or terrorists.

Are we really supposed to think that al-Qaeda operatives cannot simply walk over an unguarded border? After all, they walk everywhere in one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Mexico to the USA is a stroll in the park, compared to that.

Al-Qaeda’s goal is to spread terror and cause economic damage to the United States. They don’t have to smuggle in weapons and explosives. The Washington DC snipers pretty much cleared the streets for weeks, and caused multi-millions of dollars in damages in the Maryland – Washington DC corridor a few years ago.

Why do we only hear about high-tech, elaborate, highly coordinated schemes involving airplanes, when real low-tech, low cost operations would work just as well?

Hound Dog thinks looking through grandma’s underwear prior to boarding an airplane is a total waste of manpower.
